Scary work day!

I wanted to blog about my scary work day.....as most of you know I got a new job and I love it. It's easy and works well around my school schedule and most of my earnings go toward the baby castillo fund! ( : Anyways....I was working one afternoon and I was there all alone. An elderly woman walked in and bought a couple things and I was checking her out when we go into deep conversation. She was telling me the really long story about her mother and life and things like that. Well, I was standing behind the cash register talking to her for a "good" 15-20 minutes. Well, just standing in one spot alone isn't all that comfortable being pregnant but, I had locked my knees while talking to her and I started to feel funny........I started sweating like crazy and feeling dizzy, being the good employee that I am I was just following along and listening intently to this woman's story. Well, I started to notice that it was super hot in the store, I was sweating like a pig and feeling quite unstable, so I leaned forward a little on the counter (while I was nodding my head and say uh huh after each sentence) and started to black out. Well, I was able to make it to a chair which was about 5 feet away and slouch down in it before fainting flat on my face. I went out of consciousness for a bit and came back to life and noticed that the lady was still talking. I have no idea how long I was out or what happened? I just blacked out totally and thanks to the chair (and to God) I was able to wake up quickly and I called my doctor. The doctor told me to come in asap and he would do a check up. So my loving husband came to my rescue and picked me up and took me to see my baby doctor, because my first and main concern was that the baby was ok! We got in to the see the doctor and sure enough my blood pressure was low and he told me that I had a fainting spell. I just lost blood to my head due to my knees being locked and standing for so long. He told me that this is actually common in pregnancy due to the blood volume and center of gravity pulling forward because of the growing belly. Well, after I was checked quickly, he put the doppler on my tummy and we heard our sweet baby's heart beat for the 1st time at 17 weeks. ( : It was amazing and a sigh of relief. The heart was beating like a drum and sounding so sweet I was just so relieved! It was a great feeling....so baby is OK and so am I! Now, at work, I do not stand at all in one place for more than a minute and I try to sit down a little more often and eat a large protein breakfast! That was my scary day at work..........here is a picture of my belly at 17 weeks!!!
